Think Twice – Sin’s Aftermath

“Sin will make you stray further than you thought you’d stray.
Sin will make you stay longer than you thought you’d stay.
Sin will make you pay more than you thought you’d pay.”

Remember when you stood and thought to yourself, “How did I get to this point!? I thought I had it under control!
The basic truth in life is that sin always brings destruction. In fact, it will always do more than you ever thought. Who planned that it would destroy your marriage, relationship, career, friendship, studies, reputation, purity, and one’s self? Yet it did. No one was born like that; rather, one became’s that way through sinful choice that are made.
Sin, in its essence, is separation from God. When we allow sin enter our life, it ultimately separates us from Gods shelter and comes only to steal, kill and destroy. The blessing is gone and curse creeps in. The consequence of evil is set to be destructive. Was it pride that broke you? Was it anger, unforgiveness, disobedience, lust, fear, bitterness, gossip, pornography, alcohol or drugs that brought you so low? It does not matter what sin you allow to enter your life because eventually it will grow bigger and destroy you.
Sin will always make you go further from love, mercy, grace of God than you thought you would go. Sin will always make you stay longer and go deeper in to its filth more than you were ever willing to go. Sin will ultimately make you pay the price, of what is most important to you, more than you were planning to pay. It will bring you lower into depression, sadness, brokenness, loneliness, emptiness, helpless and/or poor self-esteem than you thought was possible. The price will be paid and will have no refund available.
No wonder bible says, “Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.” (Col 3:5 ESV). You must put it to death your fleshy desire of sin as soon as you can. With strong will on your end, strength and mercy from Christ and divine guidance of the Holy Spirit, you are “…more than conquerers.“(Rom 8:37)

Whatever type of sin you are entertaining right now, know that it will make you stray, stay and pay more than you every through it would. Therefore, stop now and run the cross of Jesus:

  1. Recognizing the sin in your life – be very specific.
  2. Repent from that sin – in prayer by the blood of Jesus.
  3. Run away from that sin – close the doors shut!
  4. Return to relationship with God – Grow spiritual

My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
1-John 2:1
